Peking University Alumni Association’s 10th Anniversary Celebration

August 10, 2024, the 10th anniversary celebration of the Peking University Alumni Association of Malaysia was held in Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the banquet was “Southern Branch Evermore Blooms,” organized by the Peking University Malaysia Alumni Association, aiming to review the ten-year journey, consolidate the camaraderie among Peking University alumni, and look forward to the future.


Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Chang Lih Kang, emphasized the importance of global cooperation in his speech and encouraged Peking University alumni to utilize their achievements and resources from their time at the university to contribute to Malaysia and the world at large.


Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, HE Ouyang Yujing, commended the Peking University Alumni Association for its unique contributions to building a bridge of cultural exchange between China and Malaysia and promoting cooperation in various fields since its establishment. He also noted that the extensive alumni are both an important outcome of Chinese higher education going global and a vivid practice of China-Malaysia higher education cooperation.


President of the Peking University Alumni Association of Malaysia, Nai Chen Huang, mentioned in his speech that the “Southern Branch Evermore Blooms” publication is a review of the association’s ten glorious years and a gift to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations. Additionally, he announced the establishment of the “Peking University Alumni Association of Malaysia Fund” to help more outstanding Malaysian students pursue their studies at Peking University.


The banquet attracted many dignitaries from the political, business, cultural, and educational sectors, including the President of the ACCCIM, Tan Sri Dato' Low Kian Chuan, and the Permanent Honorary President of the MCCC, Tan Sri Dato' Tee Tiam Lee. During the banquet, alumni and guests from various fields engaged in in-depth discussions on how to play a role in promoting China-Malaysia relations and driving the technological and economic development of both countries.


President of our association, Hong Zi Shen, and the former president, Liew Chee Wei, also attended the banquet. They represented the Tsinghua alumni community in offering congratulations to the Peking University Malaysia Alumni Association, wishing for an even closer relationship between the two alumni associations and a bright future together.
