On May 18, 2024, the Shenzhen celebration of Tsinghua University's 113th anniversary was grandly held in the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS). This celebration was guided by the Tsinghua Alumni Association and co-organized by the Shenzhen Alumni Association, SIGS, and Tsinghua University Research Institute in Shenzhen. Han Jingyang, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University and Vice President of the Tsinghua Alumni Association, attended the event and delivered a speech. The event also saw the attendance of members of the leadership team of SIGS, representatives of senior alumni from the Shenzhen Alumni Association, representatives from alumni associations from other regions, guests from units supporting the development of the institute, as well as Vice Presidents and Secretaries-General of the Shenzhen Alumni Association.
Tan Sri Barry Goh, Honorary President of the Tsinghua University Council of Malaysia, and Hong Zi Shen, President of the Malaysia Alumni Association, also attended the celebration. During the event, they had brief exchanges with Wu Xiaofeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of SIGS and President of the Shenzhen Alumni Association, and Ouyang Zheng, Dean of SIGS.
On May 20, 2024, Tan Sri Barry Goh and Hong Zi Shen also attended the symposium "Developing New Productive Forces, Large Models Leading Industrial Innovation" hosted by Zhipu AI and AI TIME at the Tsinghua University Research Institute in Shenzhen. This event was supported by the Zhipu AI Wisemodel open-source community. Focused on the technological development in the field of AI large models, the event brought together top industry experts to share unique industry insights, promote intellectual exchanges, business discussions, and development cooperation, collectively advancing the healthy development of the AI large model industry in China. Professor Li Juanzi from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University gave a keynote speech on "Cognitive Intelligence in the Era of Large Models," Zhipu AI CEO Zhang Peng spoke on "Implementation and Application Exploration of ChatGLM Large Models," and Associate Professor Zheng Haitao from SIGS discussed "Multi-Agent Game Development Based on Large Models," among other topics.
The successful hosting of these two significant events not only showcased Tsinghua University's outstanding achievements in technological innovation and talent cultivation but also further strengthened the connections and cooperation between Tsinghua University, its alumni, and industry leaders. With the guiding spirit of Tsinghua, it is believed that more alumni and technological elites will work together in the future to promote technological progress and social development, continuing to write glorious chapters for Tsinghua University.
