Wang Xiqin Visited Kuala Lumpur For Alumni Exchanges

On September 17, 2023, Wang Xiqin and his delegation visited Kuala Lumpur for exchanges with key members of the AGTHUM, local alumni, and friends of Tsinghua. Yang Liu was the emcee of the night.

Wang Xiqin introduced the recent development of the university and expressed expectations for the alumni. He encouraged Malaysian alumni to embrace a love for peace, a global perspective, and to demonstrate actions speak louder than words. He emphasized the importance of establishing a common ideal for Tsinghua alumni, working together to build a community of shared human destiny, and striving for the progress and unity of human civilization. Following this, Wang Xiqin, on behalf of Tsinghua University, conferred degrees to 12 alumni who couldn't attend the graduation ceremony due to the pandemic.

After the degree conferral, Tang Jie briefed the participants on the work of the Alumni Association and welcomed more local alumni to actively participate in alumni activities. Hong Zi Shen, the president of the AGTHUM and an alumnus of the Computer Science Department (Class of 2001), introduced the progress of the association's work. Local alumni felt a deep connection with their alma mater upon meeting the teachers from Tsinghua. Several alumni, including Liew Chee Wei, Fabian Kong, Chong Zi Xuan, Edison Wong, and Wong Wei Xuan, shared fond memories of their time at Tsinghua, expressed their nostalgia for the alma mater, and pledged to work hard to support Tsinghua's development, actively participating in the work and activities of the AGTHUM. Malaysian Professor Kee Keh Kooi, a Long-term Professor at the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University, sent his best wishes to the alumni, hoping they will continue to strive for excellence and take it upon themselves to further enhance the reputation of their alma mater.

Teachers from the International Office, the Education Foundation, and other relevant departments, as well as some alumni guests, attended the alumni event. Through close communication with President Wang Xiqin and teachers from Tsinghua, Malaysian alumni gained a deeper understanding of the university's construction and development. They keenly felt the care and concern from their alma mater, and it clarified the mission and responsibility they bear. The university and the Alumni Association will continue to pay attention to the dynamics of alumni, welcoming them to actively participate in university construction and alumni work. We look forward to the next reunion!
